CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College Eagles capitalized on two Virginia Tech errors to plate four unearned runs and won the ACC series over the Hokies with a 4-1 victory on Sunday afternoon at Pellagrini Diamond.

Saige Jenco scored Tech’s only run in the fourth, his team-high tying 30th of the season and the 97th of his Tech career.

BC starter Mike King (5-3) picked up the win on the mound after tossing a complete game, allowing five hits and two walks and striking out six.

Nic Enright (1-3) suffered the loss despite not allowing an earned run. He went five innings and struck out four. Jon Woodcock threw the final three innings scoreless for Tech.

How the runs were scored

• Boston College (23-17, 9-13 ACC) used the first Virginia Tech error in the second to push two unearned runs across the plate. Gian Martellini, who doubled, scored the first run on a Mitch Bigras single and Johnny Adams, who reached on the error, scored on Dominic Hardaway’s single.
• The Eagles added two more unearned runs in the third, with Adams singling home both Nick Sciortino and Michael Strem to increase their lead to 4-0.
• Tech (15-30, 5-19 ACC) scored its only run in the top of the fourth. Saige Jenco drew a leadoff walk, moved to third on Tom Stoffel’s double and scored on a grounder by Nick Anderson.

• Jenco: single in first, has reached base in the first inning in 22 of 40 starts this season including 13 of the last 18 games; 50th hit of the season, 180th of his career; run, team-high tying 30th of the season, 97th of his Tech career.
• Stoffel: double, team-high tying 10th of the season, 12th of his career.
• Anderson: 2 hits, 14th multi-hit game of the season and career.
• Enright: first career ACC start; 5.0 IP, tied for season-high versus ACC opponent (5.0 at Louisville, April 3).
• Woodcock: 3.0 IP, 12.1 consecutive ACC relief innings pitched without allowing an earned run; career in ACC relief outings – 25.0 innings, nine hits, two earned runs, 22 strikeouts.

Up next

The Hokies remain on the road for their next game, a nonconference contest on Tuesday in Morgantown, West Virginia. First pitch against the Mountaineers is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. It will be Tech’s first game in Morgantown since April 17, 2003.
