GREENSBORO, N.C. – Announced Monday by Commissioner John Swofford, the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year Gage Smith of Florida State leads the sport’s All-ACC Academic Baseball Team, as two Virginia Tech players are also named to the team.
Highlighting the team for the Hokies is sophomore Mark Zagunis, who becomes a two-time member of the All-ACC Acadmic team as he earned a spot last year as well. Zagunis becomes the seventh Hokie to be a two-time member, while just two men - Michael Seaborn and Anthony Sosnoskie - have earned it three times.
In his first year with the team, junior Brad Markey was named All-ACC Academic for the first time.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. To see the full ACC release, click here.
