CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Andrew Rash hit a two-out two-RBI double in the top of the 10th inning to break a 5-5 tie and Tanner McIntyre worked a perfect bottom frame to give Virginia Tech an 8-5 victory over Miami on Sunday afternoon at Alex Rodriguez Park in the final game of the three-game ACC series.

With the victory, the Hokies (18-7, 5-4 ACC) managed to win one game in the series and stay above .500 in the conference. It marks the first time as a member of the ACC that Tech has a winning record after nine games played.

Rash was responsible for five of the Hokies eight runs in the game, as he also scored three times. After Mark Zagunis hit a two-out two-run home run in the first inning, scoring Chad Pinder, Brendon Hayden knocked in Rash and Tyler Horan with a two-out double and Tech led 4-0 in the top of the first.

Miami (19-8, 4-5 ACC) battled back scoring two runs in the third, and after Tech took a 5-2 lead in the fourth, a single run in the sixth. In the seventh, they added two more runs, practically emptying their bench of left-handed hitters, to tie the game at 5-5.

Clark Labitan would work a scoreless eighth and Sean Keselica would get an out in the ninth before McIntyre was called in from the pen. He worked two scoreless frames, allowing just one walk and striking out one to improve to 3-0 on the season.

Tech returns to the field to host VMI on Tuesday at English Field. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
