GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Atlantic Coast Conference and Commissioner John D. Swofford announced the 2012 All-ACC Academic Baseball Team Tuesday, which features 46 ACC student-athletes and includes three Hokies -- graduate Andrew Aizenstadt, sophomore Chad Pinder and freshman Mark Zagunis.

Pinder highlights the team for Tech, as he earns his second straight selection to the squad, as he was also named last year as a freshman. Almost half (21) of the 46 members on the team were repeat selections. The Poquoson, Va., native led the Hokies in hits (69), doubles (22) and total bases (114)., while finishing second on the team in home runs (7), RBI (37) and slugging (.538).

Aizenstadt, who came to Tech just last fall to pitch for one season in the ACC, finished the season with a 2-3 record in eight starts and appeared in 16 games total. The Norwell, Mass. native, tied for the team-lead with 52 strikeouts, while throwing the second-most innings (58.2).

Zagunis adds another highlight to his successful 2012 campaign, as he was already been named to a pair of freshman all-america teams and was a second team all-conference member. The Cinnaminson, N.J., native led the team in batting (.344), on-base percentage (.430) and stolen bases (17), while he was second in hits (65) and doubles (13), and third in slugging percentage (.513), total bases (97), and walks (21).

To be eligible for consideration for the team, a student-athlete must have earned at least a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained at least a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
