
BLACKSBURG, Va. — The No. 66 Virginia Tech women’s tennis team fell to 26th-ranked Georgia Tech on Sunday afternoon 6-1 at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
Georgia Tech (9-7, 6-4 ACC) got out to a quick 1-0 lead as they claimed the doubles point over the Hokies (11-9, 3-7 ACC). Alexa Anton-Ohlmeyer and Rasheeda McAdoo topped Sansitha Nandakumar and Laura Ramthun 8-2 in the No. 3 slot before Carol Kahoun and Isel Martinez-Marcos fell to Natasha Prokhnevska and Muriel Wacker 8-2 at No. 2.
The Yellow Jackets claimed the first four singles matches to finish to secure the victory. Rebecca Harris dropper her No. 5 match to Wacker 6-1, 6-1. At No. 6, Anton-Ohlmeyer took down Mariana Silva 6-2, 6-2. Megan Kurey clinched the win with her 6-2, 6-1 win over Martinez-Marcos at No. 2. Kendal Woodard topped Kelly Williford 6-3, 7-6 (2) at No. 1.
Nandakumar got the Hokies on the board as she took down Prokhnevska 6-4, 7-6 (1) at No. 3.
McAdoo rounded out the action with her 6-4, 7-6 (5) victory over Kahoun.
Tech returns to the court as they travel to Notre Dame on Friday before returning to Blacksburg to host Boston College.
