Get to know our newest Hokie - Molly Feighan

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech women’s soccer program is unveiling its 2018 signing class in a new way. Rather than releasing them all in one story, the Hokies will announce a new signee each week in a “Get to Know” format until all of the incoming freshmen have been announced.

The next player to be featured is Molly Feighan, a 5-foot-5 forward from Pleasant Valley, New York. She currently attends Arlington High School and is contemplating majoring in human nutrition, food and exercise when she gets to Tech. For the Admirals, Feighan earned letters all four years playing for Kieran McIlvenny as a starter and helped the team to four straight league titles.

She holds the school record for most career goals (86) and assists (50) in program history and led Arlington to the 2016 NY Class AA state title as she scored the game-winning goal in double overtime defeating three-time defending champion Massapequa.

Accolades also poured in for Feighan as she was a two-time all-league, all-section, all-state first team selection, the Class AA Player of the year and the Poughkeepsie Journal Offensive Player of the Year, and as a senior, was named the NY state Co-Player of the Year. She also played in the All-American game in Orlando, and was named one of the Best XI in the game.

Her club soccer experience comes from her nine-plus seasons playing for the Lagrange Chargers under the direction of Stacey Feighan and her five seasons with the ODP state team coached by Ian Stone. The ODP team won the Inter-Regional Tournament in Boca-Raton and was a finalist at a tournament in Italy for Region One.

“Molly is a real dynamic player who has the ability to turn a game,” Tech head women’s soccer coach Charles “Chugger” Adair said. “She’s good 1v.1, but can play on the flank or central. We are excited she is part of the group and someone who can play multiple positions for us as well.

“She has the ability to go 1v.1. She can create off the dribble and brings other player into the game. She is somebody who can be dynamic and dangerous on goal. She will see time in both spots. Somebody likened her to Madi Conyers this past year when we were talking about her.”
