BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech and Boston College battled to a 0-0 draw in ACC women’s soccer action Friday night at Thompson Field. Tech is now 6-3-3 on the season and 0-2-2 in conference play and BC is 8-4-1 overall and 2-1-1 in ACC action.

The evenly matched contest saw both teams with several scoring opportunities throughout, but neither team was able to break through the opponent’s defense.

Mandy McGlynn, the Hokies’ sophomore goalkeeper recorded a career-high 11 saves in the match. This marks the second consecutive match that McGlynn has posted a new high in saves, as she had eight saves Sunday against Florida State. Boston College keeper Alexis Bryant recorded four saves for the Eagles.

BC out shot the Hokies, 22-16, including an 11-4 advantage in shots on goal. Tech held a 7-5 lead in corner kicks in the match.

NOTES

The Hokies played their fourth overtime match of the season. Tech is 1-0-3 in overtime matches this season.

With the 11 saves tonight for McGlynn, she has 112 for her Virginia Tech career. She is eighth in career saves at Tech. Her 10 career shutouts are fifth best in school history.

Tonight was Reunion Weekend for the Hokies, as former players were recognized at halftime.

The Hokies return to action on Thursday night, Oct. 5, as they travel to Winston-Salem to take on Wake Forest. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. and the match will be shown live on ACC Network Extra.

“We have to keep plugging away. We created enough chances going forward. We have to start putting some of those chances away. We have to keep creating. Something’s going to fall for us and we’ll be fine moving forward.”
