Tech fought off several late charges by William & Mary to preserve the victory.

Tech held a decisive lead in most offensive categories, including a whopping 17-2 advantage in shots and 7-1 in shots on goal. Mandy McGlynn stopped the only shot on goal she faced for a save.

QUOTING CHUGGER ADAIR

“It was a very good win for us. William and Mary is a very good team, well-organized. Tonight, they really came to sit in and make it difficult for us to play in attack.”

“I thought we really controlled the game, controlled the tempo from start to finish. We were just knocking on the door, knocking on the door. It was just a matter of time. I was glad to see one went in, finally.”

“The winning goal was a tremendous strike from Kallie Peurifoy. It’s an early season candidate for goal of the year, especially a goal on a free kick, which was exciting.”

“That goal was great to see, especially in front of such a huge crowd. The crowd was great tonight. Virginia Tech and the Hokies’ supporters were really out tonight and it was a great environment tonight at the game. The players really enjoyed playing in front of this great crowd. Thank you to the supporters.”
