Murielle Tiernan signs to play in Sweden
Recent Tech grad to begin pro career overseas

Murielle Tiernan has signed a contract to play for Hammarby IF, a professional club in Sweden. Tiernan will join the team later this month for the second half of its season.
Hammarby IF, "Hammarby Sports Club", is a Swedish sports club located in the capital city of Stockholm, which has a number of member organizations active in a variety of different sports. Women’s soccer, or fotboll, began in 1970 and plays its matches at Hammarby IP. The team competes in the top-tier league Damallsvenskan.
Tiernan, a native of Ashburn, Virginia, graduated in May from Virginia Tech with a degree in Residential Environments and Design. She is the Hokies’ all-time leader in goals, points and multi-goal games. She was a three-year first team All-ACC selection and a four-time first team all-state selection. In addition to here numerous on-field accolades, Tiernan also earned multiple academic honors, on the conference, state, regional and district levels.
