February 2, 2017
BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech women’s soccer coach Charles “Chugger” Adair announced Thursday that Allyson Brown (Leesburg, Virginia) has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Hokies for the 2017-18 season.
“I think Allyson has a passion to score goals,” Adair said. “She can get into the box. She has good pace and good athleticism. She is eager and has a desire to score goals, which is exciting. She has proven to be dangerous, and she can change games for us.”
A forward at Loudoun County High (LCHS), Brown netted first-team all-conference, all-region and all-state honors from 2015-16. She has been a huge part of LCHS’s most recent success, leading the Raiders to back-to-back state titles her sophomore and junior year. She scored a second-half hat trick as a sophomore, securing Loudoun County’s first-ever state championship with a 3-1 win over Heritage High.
The following season, she scored the game winner on a header in a 1-0 victory over Salem High, locking up the team’s second straight Virginia 4A title. Brown was the top scorer in the Virginia and Washington, D.C. metro region, earning first-team all-met accolades. She also was named the 2016 Conference, Regional and State Player of the Year for her efforts.
Of note, Brown spent her freshman season at Briar Woods High in Ashburn, Virginia. She notched the game-winning goal in the 2014 Virginia 5A semifinals, sending the Falcons to their second straight state championship game. The team went on to claim a 2-1 victory over Stone Bridge High, winning the Virginia 5A title for the first time in school history. Brown was named first team all-conference and second team all-region as a freshman.
Additionally, Brown played at the forward position as a member of the Loudoun 98 Red for nine years, where she earned all-district, all-region and all-state honors. Brown helped lead the team to two state championships, obtaining a No. 1 national ranking in 2013.
She also was among the Olympic Development Program (ODP) player pool for four years.
"I chose Virginia Tech because I have always dreamed about being a Hokie after having so many relatives go there,” Brown said. “When I step on the campus it just feels like a second home to me."
The daughter of Steve and Sonya Brown, she plans to major in human nutrition, food and exercise.
