BLACKSBURG – The U.S. U-19 Women’s National Team (WNT) will kick off its 2017 program with a training camp in Sunrise, Florida, from Jan. 28-Feb. 4.
Freshman Mandy McGlynn of the Virginia Tech women’s soccer team is one of four goalkeepers and one of nine collegiate players on the 30-women roster for U.S. Soccer Women’s Development coach Jitka Klimkova.
A native of Jacksonville, Florida, McGlynn has become quite the veteran of the U.S. WNT camps and events. Just last month she was in camp at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Carson, California, with the U-18 Women’s National Team. Also in 2016, McGlynn traveled to Belfast, Ireland, for a trio of friendlies with the U-18 WNT.
During this week’s camp, the USA will play a match against the University of Central Florida on Friday, Feb. 3, at the Paul Fillipe Estate in Palm City, Florida. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. ET.
McGlynn started in 16 of the team’s 19 matches for Tech in 2016. She finished with 58 saves and held a 1.17 goals-against average. McGlynn also logged six shutouts on the year and recorded an 11-4-1 overall mark in her first season as a Hokie.
