BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech women’s soccer head coach Chugger Adair has announced the signing of Mandy McGlynn to a national letter of intent to join the Hokies for the 2016 season.
“We are excited to add Mandy McGlynn to our 2016 class and welcome her to the Virginia Tech women’s soccer family,” Adair said. “She is a quality goalkeeper with tremendous experience, from club to regional to U.S. National team. This experience will transfer well into the college game and the ACC level. She is expected to compete for a starting position right from the start. We are also looking forward to adding her personality to the group as she is disciplined in the classroom, an exceptional trainer and top class person. We can’t wait for her to be on campus full time.”
McGlynn has played six seasons of club soccer for Jacksonville Futbol Club Storm 98/99 ECNL, for coaches Eric Dade and Mike Walker. Her team was the USYSA National Champions in 2014 and 2015, winning the USYSA Golden Glove Award in both seasons. McGlynn participated in the ECNL Nike National Training Camp in Portland, Oregon in 2015. The Jacksonville, Florida native was named TopDrawerSoccer.com Top 50 Player and was ranked the number-one overall player in the state in 2016. She also played for Orlando City ENCL in 2014 and 2015 for coach April Heinrichs.
McGlynn was a two-year letterwinner at Sandalwood High School in Jacksonville, Florida for coach Tammy Lipson. At Sandalwood, McGlynn was all-conference goalkeeper in 2013 and all-conference forward in 2015. She also lettered one year in volleyball.
McGlynn joins Katherine Roth, Jessica Boytim, Lilly Weber, Mikayla Mance, Jaylyn Thompson, Bridget Patch, Jordan Hemmen and Chandler McDaniel, who all signed earlier with Tech.
