BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech women’s soccer team finished the 2015 Atlantic Coast Conference regular season in fifth place and will now await the NCAA selection show to learn its fate in the NCAA Tournament.
The ACC Tournament will be played this weekend in Cary, North Carolina, at the same site of the NCAA College Cup. Only the top four teams in the ACC regular season standings advance to the ACC Tournament.
Top seeded Virginia (15-1-1, 9-1-0 ACC) will meet fourth-seeded Clemson (13-3-1, 7-3-0 ACC) in Friday’s opening semifinal game at 5:30 p.m. The second semifinal game at 8 p.m. on Friday finds second-seeded Florida State (13-2-3, 6-1-3 ACC) facing third seeded North Carolina (14-3-1, 7-3-0 ACC). Friday’s winners will play for the championship and the league’s automatic berth in the 2015 NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship on Sunday at 1 p.m.
