BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech women’s soccer players Jordan Coburn and Ashley Meier have been named to the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 second team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Academic All-District Team honors the nation’s top student-athletes for their performances in both athletics and in the classroom.
This is the first such honor for both Coburn or Meier. Each have earned numerous other academic honors throughout their collegiate careers. Both student-athletes will graduate in May.
Coburn, a senior defender from Ellicott City, Maryland, is a communications major at Virginia Tech. She has started every match she has played during her Virginia Tech career. She was a 2014 and 2013 ACC All-Academic Team selection. Coburn was a 2013 ACC All-Academic Team selection and a two-time ACC Honor Roll selection. She was named to the Virginia Tech Dean's List in Spring 2014, Fall 2013 and Spring 2013.
Meier, a senior midfielder from Strongsville, Ohio, is a psychology major at Virginia Tech. She is one of two Hokies to score 30-or-more goals in their collegiate careers. Academically, she is a three-time ACC All-Academic Team selection and a two-time ACC Honor Roll selection ('13, '14). She was named to the Virginia Tech Dean's List in Spring 2014, Fall 2013, Spring 2013 and Fall 2012.
The fifth-ranked Hokies conclude the 2015 regular season on Friday night, as they travel to Notre Dame to take on the 12th-ranked Fighting Irish at 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast by ESPN3.
