The ninth-ranked Hokies begin a three-match road swing, as they travel to Durham to take on the 22nd-ranked Blue Devils. The match is Sunday at 2 p.m. and will be broadcast by ESPN3.

The Hokies earned their second consecutive ACC victory with a 3-1 win over Syracuse Sunday at Thompson Field ... Tech jumped out to an early lead, thanks to a goal by Candace Cephers in the 16th minute of play, followed quickly by a goal from Murielle Tiernan in the 24th minute ... Both goals were assisted by Jordan Coburn ... Ashley Meier closed out the scoring with a second half goal.

Murielle is the Tops!

Virginia Tech junior forward, Murielle Tiernan, scored Tech’s second goal of the Longwood match and in doing so, recorded her 30th career goal ... She now has 34 career goals ... That puts her alone in first place on the Virginia Tech all-time goals list ... In the loss to No. 3 UNC, Tiernan scored her 32nd goal and in doing so, set a new school record for career points ... She now has 81 career points and is tied for eighth in career assists, with 13.

Ashley’s Not Far Behind

Virginia Tech senior midfielder, Ashley Meier, scored her 28th career goal in Tech’s win over Davidson and now has 30 career goals ... That puts her alone in second place on the Virginia Tech all-time goals list, behind teammate Murielle Tiernan ... Meier enters today’s match in third place in career points, with 72 ... Meier has 176 career shots, fifth place on Virginia Tech’s all-time list.

The Hokies vs. Duke

The Hokies are 3-9-1 all-time against Duke, but have won the last two meetings in the series ... Tech won the last meeting, 2-0, in Blacksburg last season ... Tech is 0-6-1 in road games in the series and is 2-3-1 against the Blue Devils under Chugger Adair ... The Hokies are 2-8-1 in regular season ACC games against Duke ... Tech is 48-78-15 all-time against schools currently in the ACC and 42-60-12 in ACC games.
