The Hokies play a pair of matches this weekend to wrap-up a five-matches-in-nine-days stretch. Tech hosts UNC Greensboro on Friday night at Thompson Field at 7 p.m. in the Orange Effect match. The Hokies then travel to VCU on Sunday night for a 7 p.m. match.

Entering This Weekend’s Matches

The Hokies enter the weekend 4-0-1 overall ... Tech is ranked 10th in both the NCSAA poll and TopDrawerSoccer.com polls.

Last Time Out: VT 4, Longwood 2

The Hokies scored two late goals to down Longwood, 4-2, at Thompson Field on Wednesday night ... Tech took a 2-0 lead into the half, but Longwood knotted the score, 2-2, in the final 20 minutes ... Tech then registered a pair of goals in the final ten minutes of action to secure the win ... Ashley Meier netted a pair of goals in the game, including the eventual game-winner.

Murielle is the Tops!

Virginia Tech junior forward, Murielle Tiernan, scored Tech’s second goal of the Longwood match and in doing so, recorded her 30th career goal ... That puts her alone in first place on the Virginia Tech all-time goals list ... She enters the weekend in second place in career points, with 71, four behind former teammate Kelly Conheeney.

The Hokies vs. UNC Greensboro

The all-time series between the two schools is knotted at 4-4 ... The Hokies won the last three meetings, including, most recently, a 4-0 win in Greensboro in 2011 ... Tech is 1-2 in home games and 1-0 against the Spartans under Chugger Adair ... Tech is 9-4 all-time against schools currently in the Southern Conference, with all four losses coming to UNCG.

The Hokies lead the all-time series with the Rams, 5-1-1 ... Tech has won the last two meetings and is 4-0-1 in the last five meetings ... The Hokies won the last meeting, 6-0, in Blacksburg last season... Tech is 0-1 in road games and 1-0 against the Rams under Chugger Adair ...
