BLACKSBURG, Va. – At least eight Virginia Tech women’s soccer matches will be available online this fall, as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference as part of its fall 2015 Olympic sport broadcast schedule.
Tech fans will be able to catch six matches online through ESPN3, as well as two on HokiesXtra, the department’s in-house online broadcast. There is the potential for additional broadcasts from non-conference opponents on the road that have yet to be announced.
“Its exciting to see such a tremendous line up for broadcast matches, not only conference matches but quality non conference matches,” head coach Chugger Adair said. “The ability for us to be seen by many around the country is huge for our growing fan base, not only at home in front of our fan base but when we travel as well. The opportunity for us to play broadcast matches provides the team, players and program an opportunity to showcase our ability in quality matches. We look forward to these matches and one of our most viewed seasons to date.”
The six ESPN3 games are as follows: Aug. 30 against Tennessee at Thompson Field in the home opener; Sept. 24 at NC State; Sept. 27 against Syracuse (Thompson Field); Oct. 4 at Duke, Oct. 22 against defending national and ACC champion Florida State (Thompson Field) and Oct. 30 at Notre Dame. HokiesXtra will broadcast the Sept. 2 home match against Longwood and the Oct. 25 match at home against Pittsburgh.
The Hokies report to campus on Aug. 4 to begin practice on Aug. 5. Tech will scrimmage Marshall at 4 p.m. on August 15 at Thompson Field. The Hokies will open the regular season schedule on August 21 at Indiana, as part of the Hoosier Classic.
The Hokies will be working towards earning their eighth consecutive NCAA berth. Six of this season’s opponents reached 2014 NCAA Tournament.
Admission to Thompson Field for all matches is free of charge.
