No. 3 Hokies set to host undefeated Buffalo
Tech looks to extend seven-game winning streak

BLACKSBURG - Two undefeated team clash on Thompson Field as the third-ranked Virginia Tech women’s soccer team plays host to Buffalo on Friday, Sept. 12 at 4 p.m.

Tech enters the match in the midst of a seven-game winning streak, outscoring its opponents 28-3. If they earn two more wins they will match their program’s best start of nine-straight to begin the year.

On Tuesday, the Hokies defeated Longwood, 4-1, in a midweek non-conference game away from home. Tech headed in three goals in their third match in five days. Sophomore Murielle Tiernan scored two and junior Ashley Meier and senior Ellie Zoepfl each added another.

Buffalo enters the game on a hot-streak of their own with a 4-0-2 record so far this season. They have yet to give up a goal the entire year coming into their toughest match against the Hokies.

In their last match they earned a 2-0 win over Niagara, where Jackie Hall and Celina Carrera scored for the Bulls. They are led in scoring by Carrera, who has scored two goals and assisted one. Hall was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Week last Monday and goalie Laura Dougall earned the award after the first week of play.

Live stats will be available online for Friday’s match.
