BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Freshman Murielle Tiernan was honored by Soccer America for her performance this season, as the publication named the rookie to its All-Freshman Second Team.
Tiernan, named to the ACC All-Freshman Team earlier this year, racked up 11 goals in her first year as a Hokie and took a team-high 63 shots. She also assisted on five other goals and tallied a team-high five game-winners.
“We’re very happy for Murielle,” Head Coach Chugger Adair said. “She came in and made a huge impact on our team and was a big part of our success this past season. We’d all like to congratulate her and we look forward to more good years to follow.”
The Ashburn, Va. native’s 11 goals were the second-most ever for a Virginia Tech freshman. Tiernan started all 27 matches for the Hokies and was crucial to Tech’s school-record 19 wins and first-ever trip to the NCAA College Cup.
