PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Jazmine Reeves of the Virginia Tech women’s soccer team became the first Hokie ever drafted in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Draft on Friday afternoon, when the senior forward was selected as the third pick of the third round by the Boston Breakers.

Reeves was drafted following a stellar senior season in which she tallied 11 goals and five assists while helping lead the Hokies to their first-ever NCAA College Cup appearance.

The Dover, Del. native was also named a First Team NSCAA All-American, First Team All-ACC performer and a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy, becoming the first Virginia Tech player to achieve any of the three honors.

“On behalf of the team, coaches and support staff, we offer our congratulations to Jazmine,” Head Coach Chugger Adair said. “We’re extremely proud of everything she accomplished this year, both on and off the field, and we’re looking forward to seeing her successes at the next level.”

The NWSL, founded in 2012 with the remaining teams from the now-defunct Women’s Professional Soccer, will kick off play in early April. The Breakers, coached by Tom Durkin, finished fifth in the eight-team league last year, earning an 8-6-8 record on the year and missing the playoffs by just six points.
