RADFORD, Va. -- Six members of the Virginia Tech women’s soccer team have been named to the 2013 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) University Division All-State Women’s Soccer team, as announced by VaSID on Tuesday.

Senior Jazmine Reeves and sophomore Ashley Meier were both named to the All-State First Team, while freshman Murielle Tiernan, sophomore Jordan Coburn and juniors Kelsey Loupee and Katie Yensen were all second-team selections.

“It speaks to the quality of our team to have so many of our girls recognized,” Head Coach Chugger Adair said. “When you look at the high level of soccer being played in the state of Virginia these days, these kinds of honors mean a lot.”

Reeves, who was also named a First Team NSCAA All-American, First Team All-ACC performer and a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy, finished the year with 11 goals and five assists. The senior also helped lead the Hokies to their best season in program history and first-ever NCAA College Cup appearance.

Meier tallied nine goals and two assists in her sophomore campaign for the Hokies, earning Second Team All-ACC honors. She also fired game-winners against High Point and North Texas.

Tiernan, named to the ACC All-Freshman Team earlier this year, racked up eight goals in her first year as a Hokie and took a team-high 57 shots. She also assisted on five other goals and tallied five game-winners.

Coburn was a second-team selection on defense after helping lead the Hokie backline to its best season in program history. Tech surrendered just 22 goals in its 27 matches, an average of just 0.81 per match, while Coburn also assisted on three goals, including the game-winner in Tech’s 4-2 win over No.1 Virginia in the ACC Semifinals.

Loupee had a standout year in the midfield for the Hokies, racking up 10 assists on the year, the third-most ever recorded in a single season at Virginia Tech. She also tallied goals in wins over Syracuse and East Tennessee State.

Yensen also proved crucial in the midfield for Tech, scoring seven goals and recording five assists in 26 matches. The junior racked up five game-winners for the Hokies, tied for most on the team, and now has eight in her career, the third-most in Virginia Tech history. The Hokies are also 19-0-0 over her three seasons in matches where she tallies at least one point.

The six All-State selections mark the most that the Hokies have ever placed on the teams and represent the second-most of any school this season. Virginia, which had seven athletes named, was the only school with more, while no other school had more than three selections.
