Virginia Tech Women's Soccer NSCAA Release

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Senior Jazmine Reeves of the Virginia Tech women’s soccer team has been named as a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy, as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on Tuesday afternoon.

The NSCAA administers the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy, the highest individual award presented to a player in intercollegiate soccer. The NSCAA's Division I College Services members serve as the official voting body for the Hermann Trophy.

In her senior season, Reeves has helped lead the Hokies to their first-ever NCAA College Cup appearance, racking up 11 goals, tied for most on the team, to go with five assists. Last month, Reeves was named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference First Team for the 2013 season, the first-ever Hokie to earn that honor.

“We’re extremely proud that Jazmine is being considered for the Hermann Trophy,” Head Coach Chugger Adair said. “She’s been a tremendous player for us all year. She really put a lot of time and effort into making her senior season a special season and she’s been a huge part of our success this year, both on and off the field. We’re extremely proud of her and it’s great to see her recognized on a national level.”

Reeves is the first-ever Virginia Tech player to be named as a semifinalist for the Hermann Trophy. In all, 15 players from across the nation were announced as semifinalists for the award, a list that will be pared down to six finalists on Dec. 12, with the winner to be announced at on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014.

The Hokies travel to Cary, N.C. this weekend to take part in the 2013 NCAA College Cup. Tech faces No. 3 Florida State in the national semifinal at 5 p.m. on Friday evening.
