Women's soccer adds two more newcomers for 2013
Phillips and Brock finalize 2013 incoming freshman class

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech women’s soccer program added two more newcomers to the upcoming 2013 roster as announced by head coach Chugger Adair Wednesday afternoon. Sarah Phillips and Jordyn Brock will finalize the Hokies’ incoming freshman class.

“We are excited to announce the remaining group of our 2013 class,” commented Adair. “We believe we have a great class with the talent to help our team continue our recent success. We look forward to them joining our team and becoming Hokies.”

Jordyn Brock
Midfield/Defender – 5-5
Germantown, Md. – Our Lady of Good Counsel High School
Bethesda Soccer Club

Brock is heading into her senior season as a three-year letterwinner at Our Lady of Good Counsel. The defender has helped her squad to three WCAC Championships and has earned WCAC first team honors the past two seasons. The Germantown, Md., native is a two-time All Gazette first team honoree and was placed on the Washington Post All-Met first team last season. She is also a three-year letterwinner in track and field at Our Lady of Good Counsel. Brock has been a member of the Bethesda Soccer Club for the past three years.

Adair on Brock:

“We are really excited for Jordyn Brock to join our squad. She is going to bring a physical presence to the center mid – center back position with her physical, athletic ability. We look forward to her contributing right away to make an impact on our team.”

Sarah Phillips
Midfield/Defender – 5-6
Charlotte, N.C. – Ardrey Kell High School
Charlotte Soccer Academy ’94 ECNL

Phillips is a three-year letterwinner at Ardrey Kell High School where she earned all-conference and all-region honors the past three years. As she heads into her final season, the Charlotte, N.C., native was the leading scorer her freshman and junior campaigns. She helped her squad to the state finals her sophomore season and are the reigning Southwest 4A Conference Champions. She plays club ball at the Charlotte Soccer Academy and is a four-time ODP Regional Champion.

Adair on Phillips:

“We are excited to add Sarah to our class. I think she adds good depth, athleticism and ability to the center position. We will look into giving her the opportunity to play outside back on the left side in the fall and she is an athletic attacking back that can get forward and create in the attack as well as defend well. We are looking forward to her joining us this fall.”
