Three Hokies named to the All-ACC Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C.Shannon Mayrose, Ashley Meier and Jazmine Reeves of the Virginia Tech women's soccer have been named to the 2012 All-ACC Academic Team, as announced Friday by Commissioner John Swofford.

This is the first career honor for Mayrose and Meier, while Reeves is a two-time honoree.

North Carolina senior midfielder Amber Brooks has been named the 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

All 11 schools that compete in women’s soccer are represented on this year’s All-ACC Academic Team, which includes six student-athletes that earned NSCAA All-America honors in 2012. Seven members of the ACC All-Academic Team were named to either 2012 Capital One Academic All-America Team or a NSCAA Scholar All-America Team.

Duke led all ACC institutions with eight selections, while Florida State followed with seven. Boston College, North Carolina, Virginia, Wake Forest each had four honorees apiece.

The ACC All-Academic Team also includes 15 players that were named to the first- or second All-ACC team and six members of the ACC All-Freshman team.
