BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech women’s soccer team earned its fifth-consecutive bid and will play host to the Georgetown Hoyas Sunday, Nov. 11, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament announced on Monday. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.

“We are excited on making the NCAA Tournament,” commented second-year head coach Chugger Adair. “I think it is well deserved for the girls and I am proud of the team. The girls worked hard all year and we have had a very good year. We have played a number of good matches and had a good season.”

The Hokies are coming off a very successful 2011 run, making it all the way to the Sweet 16 for the second time in program history. Tech defeated West Virginia and Texas A&M before falling to Virginia.

The Hoyas are 15-3-3 this season and finished with a 5-1-0 conference record before falling to Marquette in the BIG EAST Championships, 1-0.

“The Hoyas, who we drew is a very good team,” added Adair. “They are a BIG EAST team and have had a very good run as well. They are well coached and well organized and it is going to be a difficult game. We are happy to host and I am excited for our team and proud of our team this year.”

The Atlantic Coast Conference matched its league record set last year, sending nine teams to the postseason tournament, highlighted by eight host teams.
