• Coming off a tough 5-0 loss to the No. 14 Virginia Cavaliers, the Hokies need to secure their spot in the ACC Tournament with a result at No. 7 Wake Forest Wednesday night.

WEDNESDAY’S MATCH

• Wednesday marks the final game during the Hokies’ regular season

• The Demon Deacons enter Wednesday with an overall record of 12-3-3 and 5-2-1 in the conference

• Wake Forest is coming off a 2-1 win over the No. 10 North Carolina

• Virginia Tech hasn’t lost to Wake Forest in four-straight seasons with the last two meetings resulting in a tie

• Its last loss came in 2008 when the Hokies fell 2-1 in Blacksburg to a No. 19-ranked Wake Forest

• Coming off a convincing 3-0 win over Clemson last Thursday, the Hokies fell to No. 14 Virginia, 5-0

• Virginia’s Caroline Miller notched the first three goals for her second-career hat trick

• The Cavaliers outshot Virginia Tech 24-9 and took the 8-5 corner advantage

• Dayle Colpitts took the loss for the Hokies and fell to 7-5-1 on the season and picked up five saves

ACC TOURNAMENT ON THE LINE

• The Hokies are in need of a point Wednesday, as they are one point behind Miami in the ACC standings

• If Virginia Tech wins and Miami loses to Florida State Thursday, the Hokies are automatically in the tournament

• If Miami wins, the Hurricanes clinch the final spot

• Miami has to lose if the Hokies tie the Demon Deacons

• Freshman Ashley Meier’s first goal not only put the Hokies up 1-0 against Clemson on Oct. 21, it made it on SportsCenter’s Top-10 Plays

• The midfielder flicked the ball to herself about 15-yards out and connected to the upper right corner

• On Thursday, Oct. 11, Virginia Tech was live on TV for the first time this season against top-ranked Florida State

• The Hokies and Seminoles kicked off at 8:05 p.m. on RSN

• Virginia Tech fell to the Seminoles 1-0 on Thursday night

• Game will aired live on the following channels: FS South, Sun Sports, Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic and NESN

MITCHELL BECOMES TECH’S ALL-TIME LEADER

• In her final game at Thompson Field when the Hokies faced Virginia on Oct. 21, Kelsey Mitchell became Tech’s all-time leader in career games started

• The senior has started every game in her career, good for a total of 86

CHUGGIN’ ALONG

• With not even two seasons under his belt, head coach Chugger Adair notched his 25th win as Virginia Tech’s head coach Sunday, Oct. 7 against Oklahoma

• In Adair’s first season the Hokies matched a program-best Sweet 16 run and set the school record with most shutouts in a season with 11

• This year, he’s continued the success with sweeping the non-conference schedule for the first time in program history with the 4-1 win over Oklahoma and set school records with most consecutive shutouts (6), best season start (9-0-0) and most consecutive wins (9)
