BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech women’s soccer team began practice last week as it welcomed back eight starters, as well as eight freshman. Senior Anne Lumpkin, who has helped the Hokies to four-straight ACC and NCAA Tournament appearances throughout her career, will share her and the team’s experiences throughout the two-week preseason camp.

The team is coming off one of its best seasons in program history, as it made a run all the way to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament in 2011. After defeating then-No. 8 North Carolina and tying then-No. 5 Wake Forest during the regular season, Tech got its fifth program bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Hokies went on and defeated the BIG EAST Champion and then-No. 9 West Virginia and then-No. 17 Texas A&M, before falling to conference opponent then-No. 8 Virginia.
