BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech women’s soccer program signed Sarah Roger for the upcoming 2012 season as announced by head coach Chugger Adair Monday morning. The Australian is the eighth freshman added to the 2012 roster.
"We are looking forward to Sarah joining the team,” commented Adair. “We expect her to bring us a tenacious hard working presence, with good decision making, great movement and versatility to our attack. She will have opportunities to play on the frontline or midfield and will provide us with creativity in the attack."

Roger captained her Queenwood School team last season and was a member of the Combined Independent Schools NSW State Open U19 team from 2007-2011. From 2007-2010, Roger was on the Football NSW Final State Trial Squads, while being a member of the Football NSW U17 team that won the Nike Surf College Cup in San Diego, Calif., in 2009. The forward attended the Football NSW Johnny Warren Academy from 2007-2008, and for the past two years Roger competed in Futsal, an indoor version of soccer played in several countries. She helped her Futsal NSW All Schools U19 Open squad win the National Championship and was awarded the Futsal NSW State Premier League’s Golden Boot and MVP awards in 2010. She was also selected to the National All Stars and National Development teams, which traveled to Brazil in 2010. Her Futsal NSW State Youth Women’s team was the 2011 National Champions, along with her Futsal NSW State Open Women’s team that was named National Champions in 2012. Roger also participated in tennis, volleyball, surfing, cross country, and swimming at the Queenwood School for Girls and is the daughter of David and Masako Roger.
Roger joins fellow incoming freshmen: Ashley Meier, Courtney Stutts, Jordan Coburn, Caroline Kelly, Morgan Conklin, Delia Maresco, and Nicolette Young.
