BLACKSBURG, Va. – Sophomore Dayle Colpitts of the Virginia Tech women’s soccer team is among 23 players selected for the Canadian Under-20 Women’s National Team. The squad will compete in the 2012 CONCACAF U-20 Championship that will be held in Panama, from Feb. 27 to March 11.

The eight-team CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championship will qualify three teams to the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

This is the second year Colpitts has been called up to Canada’s U-20 team. The goalkeeper helped her squad to three wins and two losses at the CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championship to finish fourth in 2010. Although not qualifying for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, in five games, Canada scored six goals and only allowed three goals against.

Colpitts helped the Hokies match their best program finish this season, as Tech made a run all the way to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. The Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada native recorded seven shut outs this season, while setting a new Tech record for a single season.
