BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech women’s soccer team will travel to Morgantown, W.Va., to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers on Saturday, Nov. 12, in first round of the NCAA Tournament announced on Monday. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
“I am happy for our team and the seniors, who are the first four-time NCAA and ACC Tournament participants here at Tech,” commented first-year head coach Chugger Adair. “It is a well deserved honor and we look forward to making a run in the tournament."
This will be the fourth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance for the Hokies. In 2009, Tech concluded a record-setting season with a trip to the Sweet 16, the furthest they have ever gone, after earning the first two NCAA Tournament victories in program history.
The Atlantic Coast Conference placed a league record with year, sending nine teams to the postseason tournament, highlighted by three No. 1 national seeds.
ACC champion Florida State (14-6-1), regular season first-place finisher Duke (17-3-1) and Wake Forest (14-3-4) were awarded the No. 1 national seeds. The three top seeds also set a new conference standard, bettering the old mark of two established in 2009 and matched last year.
