GREENSBORO, N.C. – Eleven Atlantic Coast Conference women’s soccer matches are set for national or regional telecast during the 2011 season, including when Virginia Tech travels to Virginia on Thursday, Oct. 20 on the Fox Soccer Channel, announced Friday by the conference office.
“We are very excited to have the Virginia game on the Fox Soccer Channel,” commented first-year head coach Charles Adair. “I think it’s a great opportunity for both programs, but for us to showcase our team and also show the battle between the squads. Our girls are excited about it and looking for to the match.”
In addition to the regular-season matchup against Virginia, the ACC tournament and seven unprecedented regular-season games will be televised.
The Virginia Tech women’s soccer program is coming off of a 10-10-1 2010 showing, including the fourth consecutive NCAA appearance. The Hokies posted four ACC victories, including a 2-1 win over then-No. 4 Boston College and a 1-0 victory over then-No. 7 Maryland.
Tech kicks off the 2011 season when traveling to UNC Greensboro on Aug. 19 at 7 p.m.
