BLACKSBURG, Va. – Sophomore midfielder Kelly Conheeney was named to the VaSID All-State second team Tuesday by the state’s Sports Information Directors. This is the second-consecutive season in which Conheeney has earned All-State second team honors.
The Ridgewood, N.J., native started all 21 games for the Hokies this season, who made the NCAA Tournament for the third-straight season. Conheeney led the team with 11 assists, 21 points and three game-winning goals, while also tying two other players for second on the squad in scoring after burying five goals this season.
Virginia’s Steve Swanson and Sinead Farrelly were honored as the state’s Coach of the Year and Player of the Year, respectively, while Richmond’s Becca Wann was named the state’s Rookie of the Year.
