TOWSON, Md. – Senior midfielder Jennifer Harvey was named an ESPN First Team Academic All-American for the first time in her career. The selections were voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Though Harvey has been honored three times by the organization throughout her career, this is the first time she has earned All-America honors.
Northern Arizona’s Kristi Andreassen was named the ESPN Academic All-American of the Year, while the Atlantic Coast Conference was represented on each of the three teams with Harvey on the first team, Maryland’s Caitlin McDowell on the second team and Miami’s Brittany McDonald to the third team. Stanford and Portland led the way with three honorees apiece.
The Roanoke, Va., native has a history of academic success, as she is a two-time ACC All-Academic team honoree and has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District III first team in 2010 and 2009, as well as the third team in 2008.
Harvey is a dominant force on the field as well, having started all but two games throughout her four-year career, ranking second all-time in games played (86) and games started (84) at Tech. The accomplished chemistry major was tied for first on the team in scoring this season with six goals, to go along with three assists and 15 points. Harvey will leave Tech tied for eighth all-time in scoring (18) and 10th in points (44), while she also ranks 10th in shots (115).
