Hokies to face Dayton in NCAA Tournament
Tech makes third-consecutive trip to NCAA Tournament

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech women’s soccer team will travel to Columbus, Ohio, to take on the Dayton Flyers on Friday, Nov. 12, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament announced on Monday. This is the second year in a row that the Hokies and Flyers will match up in the first weekend of postseason play.

Host Ohio State, the third seed in the Maryland bracket, will take on St. Francis (PA) in the first of the two first round games that will be played in Columbus on Friday. The first round winners will collide on Sunday at the same site.

This will be the third-straight NCAA Tournament appearance for the Hokies, which comes after the team made it back-to-back appearances for the first time last season. In 2009 the Hokies concluded a record-setting season with a trip to the Sweet 16, the furthest they have ever gone, after earning the first two NCAA Tournament victories in program history.

The Atlantic Coast Conference will send eight teams to the postseason tournament for the second year in a row, as North Carolina, Boston College, Virginia and Maryland will all host, and Wake Forest, Florida State and Duke will compete on the road.
