CLEMSON, S.C. – The Virginia Tech women’s soccer team returned to its winning ways, defeating the Clemson Tigers, 3-0, in its final road game of the regular season. The victory snaps a three-game losing streak for the Hokies, as freshman Jazmine Reeves led the Tech offense with two goals and Dayle Colpitts earns her fourth shutout of the season.

The Hokies (9-8-1, 3-5-1 ACC) wasted no time getting on the board, as they struck first in the sixth minute. Reeves put away her third goal of the year from 12 yards out, after receiving a pass from sophomore Kelly Conheeney in the middle of the field.

Tech eventually took the 1-0 lead into the intermission but tied the Tigers (6-12-0, 0-9-0 ACC), as both teams took five shots in the opening half.

Two minutes into the new period, the Hokies lengthened their lead when senior Jennifer Harvey got a hold of a Conheeney corner kick and buried it in the back of the net for her sixth goal of the season.

Back-and-forth play would ensue after the second score, but Tech continued to pull away, putting the game even further out of reach in the 71st minute. Reeves earned the first multi-goal game of her career on a pass from Tech’s all-time multi-goal game leader, Marika Gray, as she crossed the ball in from the left side of the field and gave the Hokies the 3-0 lead.

Tech outshot the Tigers 14-12 in the game and 6-5 on target, while also taking six corner kicks compared to Clemson’s one.

Freshman Dayle Colpitts tallied five saves in the match, while Clemson’s Lauren Arnold made three.

The Hokies return to action on Sunday, Oct. 31 as they hold Senior Day at Thompson Field and host NC State in the final regular season game of the year. The match will begin at 1 p.m.
