BLACKSBURG, Va. – Freshman midfielder Kelly Conheeney was named to the Soccer America All-Freshman second team, becoming just the second Hokie to ever earn the honor and the first since Ashley Stinson in 2004. Conheeney is one of six freshmen from the ACC to be named to the squad. Boston College’s Victoria DiMartino was named the national Freshman of the Year by Soccer America.

Conheeney concluded her first season as a Hokie with nine goals, tying her for second on the team, also tacking on three assists and four game-winners. The Ridgewood, N.J., native spearheaded the Hokie offense during the ACC Tournament, netting the game-winner in overtime to help Tech defeat Wake Forest for the second time this season and advance to the semifinals. Later in the postseason, Conheeney scored her first NCAA Tournament goal as she put one away against Dayton in the second round. The freshman was also the recipient of ACC All-Freshman team and All-ACC Tournament honors as a result of her stellar first-year performance.
