The Last Two-a-Day (hopefully!)
Preseason Camp 2012 Blog

Today marks the last two-a-day for the season…at least for what is on the schedule! As a senior this will be our last one ever, the first of many lasts. I have mixed emotions because while two-a-days may not be the most flattering idea, it also means our last preseason with this team. But, I know we are not even thinking about the end to any of this because I know this team has SO much to look forward to for the season.

We have our first test coming up this Thursday against one of our in-state rivals JMU. We have played them during the regular season the past few years and had success, so hopefully we can get a similar result again! I am excited to see how our team does against an outside opponent.

We had another inter-squad scrimmage last night. Both teams had some great possession and everyone seems to be getting more and more comfortable with each other again and also integrating in the new freshmen. Our fitness tests came to an end with 120s the other day followed by long cones on Saturday morning. I know we are all very sad to see these come to an end…

Today (Monday) was our first day in the weight room. We usually lift a couple times a week, so we are starting to get back into a routine to balance lifting and practice. Over the summer, the weight room took a major upgrade and complete renovation. We have all brand new equipment and a much bigger room than previously.

Although soccer takes up most of our talents, some of us are gifted with some other abilities. Kelly Conheeney, for one, is a truly great singer. She is especially a fan of singing in the shower.

With the Olympics still on and the USA team still dominating on the way to gold (fingers crossed), we get to watch the semi-final vs. Canada this afternoon for some team bonding before practice. While we all root for USA, Dayle Colpitts will be the lone Canada fan…booo!

We head back out this afternoon for our second session of the day. As the days wear on and our bodies continue to dwindle down, we have to take EXTRA care of ourselves to make sure we are able to practice and play. Here is just a portion of the team needing some extra ice after practice this morning.

Xoxo,

Anne
