Hokies add Helm to incoming class

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Hokies announced the signing of Anthony Helm, of Chesterfield, Virginia, on Friday.

Joining T.J. Allen, Jarrett Degen, Brent Moore, Kyle Norstrem and Joey Prata, head coach Kevin Dresser will have a class of six incoming freshmen this fall.

Anthony Helm of Matoaca High School finished a spectacular career with a 49-1 senior season, complete with 30 pins. Helm finished second in the 5A state tournament in his freshman year, and finished high school as a four-time Conference 12, four-time 5A South region and three-time 5A state champion. He was a four-time first-team All-Metro selection and was named 2016’s Richmond Times-Dispatch wrestler of the year.

Tech is coming off a 2015-16 season that saw the program record a best-ever fourth place finish at Nationals, with six grapplers earning All-America honors and top six finishes.
