Walz takes fifth place at University Nationals
Zavatsky picks up five wins, including four technical falls

AKRON, Ohio - Six current Virginia Tech wrestlers competed in the 2015 ASICS United World Wrestling University Nationals (freestyle) representing the Southeast Regional Training Center in Akron, Ohio, this past weekend. Ty Walz, who earned All-America honors at the NCAA Championships this past season at heavyweight in folkstyle, was the only placewinner among the Tech wrestlers. The rising junior went 7-2 and took fifth at 125 KG. In the final match, he beat Blaize Cabell, whom he lost to twice in folkstyle this past season while Cabell was wrestling for Northern Iowa.

Zack Zavatsky dropped his opening match at 86 KG, but ran off five in a row in the consolations - including four technical falls - to finish with a 5-2 record. Jared Haught picked up four wins at 97 KG, including two technical falls and finished with a 4-2 mark.

Kevin Norstrem picked up a pair of wins at 61 KG and Solomon Chishko won twice at 70 KG. Sal Mastriani went 1-2 at 70 KG.
