Three Virginia Tech wrestling matches to be held at Moss Arts Center on campus
Event first of its kind for Hokie Athletics

BLACKSBURG - The ancient art of wrestling will meet the modern art world several times this upcoming season, as the Virginia Tech wrestling program will play host to three home wrestling matches at the new Moss Arts Center on campus, as announced Tuesday by both departments.

The Hokies, who are coming off consecutive top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championships and back-to-back ACC titles, will play host to in-state rival Virginia on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015 (2 p.m.), as well as Pitt on Friday, Feb. 6, 2015 (7 p.m.) and NC State on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015 (2 p.m.). All three of those squads are in, or receiving votes in, the preseason national team polls.

All three matches will take place inside the 1,200-seat Anne and Ellen Fife Theatre, located within the Moss Arts Center’s Street and Davis Performance Hall, at the corner of North Main Street and Alumni Mall.

Unlike matches at Cassell Coliseum, spectators will be required to purchase tickets for the events. A special presale for athletic donors and supporters of the wrestling program will begin today at 10 a.m. and tickets for the general public will go on sale on Friday, Oct. 24 at 10 a.m. Tickets are $20 and $15, depending on the location of the seat, and can be purchased here.

Private boxes, which include four seats, are available to purchase for $180 per match, or $540 for all three matches. The boxes must be reserved by calling the Moss Arts Center box office at 540-231-5300. Attendants are available to take orders from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

The Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech and the Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology are headquartered in the Moss Arts Center. The 150,000-square-foot facility includes a performance hall, visual arts galleries, amphitheater, four-story experimental Cube, and multiple studios. The center also offers a multimedia studio, production control room, newsroom, and associated classroom in support of the Department of Communication.

Groundbreaking for the center was held on June 21, 2010. The center was named for artist and donor Patricia Buckley Moss on Oct. 23, 2013. The center officially opened on Oct. 28, 2013.

Parking is available in the North End Parking Garage on Turner Street. Virginia Tech faculty and staff possessing a valid Virginia Tech parking permit can enter and exit the garage free of charge. Limited street parking is also available. Parking on Alumni Mall is free on weekdays after 5 p.m. and on weekends.
