Tech wrestling to practice on Drillfield
Hokies to host program's first outdoor session Wednesday

BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech wrestling squad will take its show on the road - or at least across campus - as the Hokies will practice outdoors on the Virginia Tech Drillfield, a first for the program. The event will be held on several mats transported from the athletic facility over to the Drillfield on Wednesday from 4-5 p.m.

“Combat on the Drillfield” will give students, media and fans an up-close look as the Tech team, led by head coach Kevin Dresser, prepares for the upcoming 2012-13 campaign. The event, which will be held outdoors on the the historic Drillfield in the heart of campus, is free for all to come watch. The marketing team will also be there to hand out over 100 T-shirts, posters, schedule cards and much more. Additionally, signups will be held from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. for two $50 gift cards to Top of the Stairs. The drawing for that will be at the end of practice, at 5 p.m.

The Hokies are coming off an 11th-place finish at the 2012 NCAA Championships, a program high, and are ranked in the top 15 of most major preseason polls. Tech will host the Hokie Open Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 4 at the Salem Civic Center and will open its dual meet schedule on Friday, Nov. 16 at home against Ohio State.
