BOONE, N.C. - Ty Mitch, Jarrod Garnett and Lex Ozias each won individual titles at the Appalachian State Open Saturday, leading a strong performance from Virginia Tech wrestlers. Mitch took the crown at 125 pounds while Garnett (133) and Ozias (149) each won while competing unattached.

Five other Tech wrestlers placed, including Chad Strube taking runner-up honors at 157 pounds. Dan Garwood took third place at heavyweight while Matt Peters (125), Nick Murray (149) and Issah Meade (165) each placed fourth.

The Tech team will be back in action on Sunday, hosting 25th-ranked Old Dominion at 6 p.m. inside Cassell Coliseum.
