BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech head wrestling coach Kevin Dresser has announced that NASCAR star Kevin Harvick will be a special guest coach for the Hokies when they host defending ACC champion Maryland on Jan. 8, 2012 inside Cassell Coliseum.
Harvick, who lives in Kernersville, N.C., won four Sprint Cup races, had nine top-five finishes and finished third in the Sprint Cup Series this past season.
Harvick has ties to the wrestling world as he competed on his high school wrestling team at North High School in Bakersfield, Calif., winning a section title in his weight class his senior year.
Virginia Tech is 3-1, 1-0 in the ACC while Maryland is 8-0, 0-0 in the league. The Hokies are tied for the 14th spot in the country in the latest NWCA Poll while the Terrapins are ranked 13th.
