CLARION, Pa. - Fourteen Virginia Tech wrestlers headed north Saturday for the National Collegiate Open Saturday on the campus of Clarion University with two Tech grapplers placing in the event. Angelo Malvestuto went 4-2 to claim fourth place at 184 pounds and freshman Chris Moon went 5-2 to place fifth at 165 pounds.

Senior Matt Epperly got the two matches he needed to reach 17 matches competed at 174 pounds, thus making him eligible to be ranked in the RPI portion of the NCAA qualifying system. He went 1-1 and then withdrew from the event.

The entire team will now begin preparations for the ACC Championships, which will be held March 5 at John Paul Jones Arena on the campus of UVa.
