LAS VEGAS - The Virginia Tech wrestling team wrapped up competition at the prestigous Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational Saturday as four Hokies placed in the top five of their respective weight class. Tech finished seventh as a team with 74.5 points.

Junior Jarrod Garnett made it to the semifinals before losing to eventual champion Anthony Robles of Arizona State. But he rallied for two wins in the consolations to take third place at 125 pounds. Senior Chris Diaz took fourth place at 141 pounds with a 6-2 record, including an upset of the top seed. Sophomore Brian Stephens took fourth place at 149 pounds with a 5-2 record. Freshman Devin Carter made it to the semifinals at 133 pounds before dropping a pair of matches, but rebounded to take fifth place.

Pete Yates tweaked his knee in his round of 16 match. He then forfeited his quarterfinal match and withdrew from the tournament as a precautionary move to protect him.

Action will resume tomorrow morning and run all the way through the finals tomorrow night.
