BLACKSBURG - In one of the last big individual events of the year, most of the starters for the Virginia Tech wrestling team will head west this weekend for the prestigious Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. A lot of the top wrestlers in each of the 10 weight classes will participate in an event that starts Friday and ends Saturday night and will be held inside the Las Vegas Convention Center (Hall C-5).
While eight of the Hokies will be heading west, the rest of the squad will head north to the Nittany Lion Open on the campus of Penn State for Sunday’s action.

In the latest InterMat individual poll, Chris Diaz moved up to sixth at 141 pounds and Devin Carter remained at seventh at 133 pounds. Brian Stephens moved up to 11th at 149 pounds while undefeated Pete Yates moved up to 11th at 157 pounds. Jarrod Garnett remained 14th at 125 pounds and Tommy Spellman is 16th at 184 pounds. The Hokies as a dual meet team moved up to 10th in the country, an all-time high for the program.
