GREENSBORO, N.C. - Virginia Tech’s Jesse Dong, who was named the Outstanding Wrestler for the National College Division at last weekend’s Virginia Duals, has also been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestler of the Week.

Dong, ranked seventh in the 157-pound division, went 5-0 in his head-to-head matches, leading the 24th-ranked Hokies to a sixth-place finish – the highest by a Virginia school in the event, which included a number of nationally ranked teams. It was also Virginia Tech’s highest ever finish in the 30th annual tournament.

Dong opened the competition on Friday with perhaps his biggest win of so far this season, a 5-4 decision over second-ranked Cyler Sanderon on Penn State. The Westerville, Ohio, sophomore followed with a pin of Drexel’s Charles Aungst in 1:21 and a 16-0 technical fall over John Gresheimer of Buffalo.

Saturday saw Dong post a 7-1 decision over 18th-ranked Danny Gonsor of Virginia and pin Kent State’s Mallie Shuster in 6:34. The five victories improved Dong’s record for the season to 20-2.
