Several Virginia Tech wrestlers are having success at various tournaments across the country starting Tuesday. Two Hokies are competing at the Midlands Championships in Evanston, Ill., while four others are at the Southern Scuffle in Greensboro, N.C.

Below are the results from day one of the Midlands, where Jarrod Garnett is into the semifinals after going 3-0 his first day. He will have a tough day ahead of him as his first match on Wednesday will be against eighth-ranked Matt McDonough of Iowa in the semifinals.

First Round: Bye
Second Round: defeated Christopher Quiroga (Purdue), 6-4
Third Round: defeated Jeremiah Austin (Michigan State), Default
Quarterfinals: defeated #7 seed Jason Lara (Oregon State), 5-3 (SV)
Semifinals: vs. #3 seed Matt McDonough (Iowa)

149: Brian Stephens (UNATTACHED; 1-2, Eliminated)
First Round: lost to Dean Pavlou (Chattanooga), 7-3

At the Scuffle, a pair of Hokies are into the quarterfinals, which start back up Wednesday morning.
