CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Taylor Emery and Regan Magarity combined for 49 points, as the hot-shooting Hokies got their second consecutive road win Thursday, a 90-74 win over North Carolina at Carmichael Arena. The win moved Tech to 16-8 overall, 5-6 in the ACC ahead of Sunday’s Commonwealth Clash with Virginia.

Carolina (14-10, 4-7) lead at the half after a 9-5 run capped by Janelle Bailey’s layup. Paris Kea scored 20 points on 17 shots from the floor to lead the Tar Heels.

Emery continued her terrific junior season, leading the way with 25 points, while also recording five rebounds and six assists.

Aisha Sheppard was a real spark off of the bench, knocking down four 3-pointers and scoring 14 points, which tied her career best. The Hokes seized control after a 9-0 run in the third quarter that was capped by a Sheppard 3-pointer that gave Tech a lead it would not relinquish.

The Hokies took advantage of their opportunities at the free-throw line, making 19 of 21 to keep the Tar Heels at bay.

On the glass, Tech held a 39-33 advantage.
