BLACKSBURG -The Virginia Tech women's basketball team is set to take on the Syracuse Orange from the Carrier Dome in upstate New York Thursday night. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.

The Hokies dropped a narrow game to Miami 82-78 on Sunday afternoon. Trailing by 17 at the half, Tech came back thanks in part to redshirt junior Rachel Camp’s 25 points.

Regan Magarity scored 17 points in the second half, recording her 1,000 point of her career in the game. She joined teammate Chanette Hicks in the 1,000-point club and became just the seventh player in program history to record 1,000 points and 700 rebounds.

The Orange: Coach Quentin Hillsman has led Syracuse to a 17-5 (5-4) record on the season. Syracuse won its last game at Boston College 75-57. ACC Rookie of the Week Digna Strautmane scored 25 points leading the Orange.

On the season, Syracuse is led by Tiana Mangakhia’s 17.6 points per game. She also leads the conference in assists at 10.0 per game.

The series: Syracuse leads the series 6-4 and have won the last four meetings. Tech last won Jan. 31, 2004. Virginia Tech assistant coach Brittney Anderson was a starting forward on that team.

Last season, the Orange won 87-72 inside Cassell Coliseum.
